    In an emergency

This practice is not a crisis service and messages are not monitored around the clock. If you or someone close to you is in immediate danger or having thoughts of suicide, please contact the SADAG 24-hour helpline on 0800 567 567, SMS 31393, or go to your nearest hospital emergency department. In a life-threatening situation call 112 (from any cellphone) or 10111.

    Frequently asked questions

Is what I share in therapy confidential?

Yes. Confidentiality is the foundation of therapy and is protected by law and by HPCSA ethical rules. The narrow exceptions — such as risk of serious harm to yourself or others, or a court order — are explained clearly at your first session, so there are never surprises.

Can I claim from my medical aid?

In most cases, yes. The practice is registered with the Board of Healthcare Funders, and you’ll receive an invoice with all the codes your scheme requires. Cover depends on your specific plan — it’s worth confirming your psychology benefits with your scheme before your first session.

How long is a session, and how many will I need?

Sessions run 50–60 minutes. The number of sessions varies widely — some concerns resolve in a handful of focused sessions, while deeper work takes longer. Progress is reviewed together regularly, and you remain in control of the process at all times.

    Do you see clients online?

Yes — secure video sessions are available for most services, and work well for clients who travel, live far from the practice, or simply prefer meeting from home. Assessments may require at least some in-person sessions; this is confirmed when you book.

How quickly can I get a progress or assessment report?

Straightforward progress reports are usually completed within one to two weeks of the request. Behavioural assessments depend on the number of sessions and collateral interviews needed; a clear timeline and quote are agreed before the process starts.

What happens at the first appointment?

The first session is a relaxed conversation about what brings you in, your background and what you hope to achieve. You’ll also go through the practice agreement — confidentiality, fees and practicalities — and decide together on the best way forward. There is no obligation to continue.
