Services
Psychology & counselling services
Therapy, assessment and professional reporting for every stage of life. All services are available in person at the practice, and most are also offered online via secure video call.

Individual Therapy
Life can become heavy — sometimes gradually, sometimes overnight. Individual therapy offers a confidential, structured space to understand what you’re carrying and to build practical ways of coping, healing and growing.
Common reasons people seek therapy include:
- Anxiety, panic and persistent worry
- Depression, low mood and loss of motivation
- Stress, burnout and work–life difficulties
- Grief, divorce, retrenchment and other major life transitions
- Self-esteem, identity and relationship patterns
Format: 50–60 minute sessions · weekly or fortnightly · in person or online
Flagship service
Psychological Progress & Behavioural Assessment Reports
Clear, ethical, professionally prepared reports that give schools, employers, attorneys, medical aids and multidisciplinary teams the psychological insight they need to make sound decisions.
Psychological Progress Reports
Formal documentation of a client’s engagement and progress in therapy — often requested by schools, employers, case managers, attorneys or medical aids. Each report covers the reason for referral, an overview of the therapeutic process, observed progress against goals, and professional recommendations, while carefully protecting the confidentiality of session content.
- Therapy attendance and engagement summaries
- Progress against agreed therapeutic goals
- Return-to-work and fitness-for-study motivations
- Reports supporting school accommodations and concessions
Behavioural Assessment Reports
A structured assessment of behavioural and emotional functioning for children, adolescents or adults — typically requested when there are concerns at school, at home or in the workplace. Assessments combine clinical interviews, standardised rating scales, observation and collateral information from parents, teachers or other relevant parties.
- Attention, concentration and impulse-control concerns
- Emotional and behavioural difficulties at school or home
- Social, developmental and adjustment concerns
- Clear findings, practical recommendations and referral guidance
How the report process works
01
Referral & consent
We clarify who has requested the report, its purpose, and exactly what will (and won’t) be shared. Informed written consent always comes first.
02
Assessment sessions
One or more structured sessions: clinical interview, standardised measures, observation, and collateral input where appropriate.
03
Report compilation
Findings are integrated into a clear, professional report with practical recommendations — typically delivered within an agreed turnaround time.
04
Feedback session
Findings and recommendations are discussed with you (and, with consent, the referring party) so the report leads to real, usable next steps.
Please note: All assessments and reports are conducted within the scope of practice of a counselling psychologist and in line with HPCSA ethical guidelines. Where a referral falls outside this scope — for example full psycho-educational, neuropsychological or forensic assessment — Dr Phillips will gladly refer you to an appropriate specialist and can provide collateral input to that process.
Child & Adolescent Counselling
Children and teenagers experience the world intensely, but often lack the words for what’s happening inside. Through age-appropriate conversation, play and creative techniques, young clients find safe ways to express, understand and manage their feelings.
Support is available for:
- School stress, exam anxiety and academic pressure
- Friendship difficulties, bullying and social anxiety
- Behavioural concerns at home or in the classroom
- Adjustment to divorce, relocation, loss or a new school
- Low self-esteem, identity questions and emotional regulation
Parents are partners. Feedback sessions keep you involved while respecting your child’s need for a confidential space of their own.

Couples & Family Counselling
Every relationship goes through seasons of strain. Counselling offers a neutral, respectful space where both partners — or the whole family — can be heard, understand each other’s experience, and learn healthier ways of communicating and resolving conflict.
- Communication breakdown and recurring conflict
- Rebuilding trust after betrayal or disconnection
- Pre-marital counselling and life-stage transitions
- Co-parenting, blended families and parenting support
- Navigating separation or divorce with dignity
Trauma & Bereavement Support
Trauma and loss change us. Whether you are dealing with a recent event or something carried for years, trauma-informed therapy provides a safe, carefully paced process for making sense of what happened — without being overwhelmed by it.
- Grief and bereavement, including complicated grief
- Accidents, medical trauma and sudden loss
- Crime-related trauma and hijacking
- Childhood and relational trauma
- Supporting families after a traumatic event
Gentle by design: stabilisation and safety always come before processing. You remain in control of the pace throughout.

Sessions are billed at rates aligned with medical scheme tariffs for psychological services. Detailed fees are confirmed when you book.
Medical aid
The practice is registered with the Board of Healthcare Funders. Claims can be submitted to most medical aids from your savings or day-to-day benefits; many schemes cover psychology under prescribed minimum benefits for qualifying conditions. You’ll receive a detailed invoice with all required codes.
Cancellations
Your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you. Please give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule; late cancellations may be billed for the session.
Reports & assessments
Assessment and report fees are quoted upfront based on scope — number of sessions, collateral interviews and report length — so there are never surprises. A deposit secures the assessment booking.
